Here are the top reasons why reviewers recommend the iPad mini 7.
The price of the Apple iPad mini 7 remains unchanged. It starts at $499 for the Wi-Fi model with 128GB of RAM and $649 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular model. For 256GB of storage, you’ll add $100 to the starting price, and for 512GB you’ll pay another $200 on top of the starting price.
Apple’s iPad mini 7 design
You’ll need a keen eye to notice the difference between the iPad mini 7 and its predecessor. But there is a difference. It’s now available in Space Grey, Blue, Purple (lighter than before), and Starlight Pink is no longer available. And I love the color.
What’s in it?
The A17 Pro chip used in last year’s iPhone 15 Pro is the same chip that powers the new iPad mini, so it’s fair to wonder why they didn’t use the A18 chip, o which would add to the new line thanks to the new iPhone 16 hardware . . using the same new processor.
We think Apple is saving the A18 chip for the larger new iPad. Which raises another question: Why is only the iPad mini new now? It would be nice if the next 11th generation iPad was also released, as the latest iPad Air and Pro models were only released in May.
Apple says the A17 Pro chip improves CPU and GPU performance by 30 and 25 percent, respectively. This is important for optimizing and increasing the battery life.
And in a major upgrade, the new iPad mini now comes in a 512GB model, so you’ll no longer be stuck with limited storage space on your device (don’t forget iCloud, of course).
How long will the battery last?
Which brings us to the battery life, Apple says the new iPad mini will last up to 10 hours, which has been the limit since the first iPad mini was released in 2012, and has continued to be the case for most Apple devices .
In the test, YouTube was opened for 1 hour at full brightness. The device lost 15 percent of its power, which is average compared to our review of the 10th-generation iPad and iPad Pro M2 Combined with other uses, which lasts a day.
Using the built-in 20W electric charger, the iPad mini 7 charges up to 50% in one hour and fully charges in two hours. And this can be done while keeping the engine running.
We’re surprised to see that the iPad still has a charger, even though Apple stopped including it for the iPhone 12 in 2020. We expect it to go away due to Apple’s commitment to environmental protection and Received positives feedbacks of the operation.
Apple iPad mini Pencil Pro support
The iPad mini 7 supports Apple Pencil Pro with features like hover and pinch. I don’t need the Apple Pencil, and it seems like the average user would enjoy the larger drawing surface, so the iPad Pro is a better option, the Pencil Pro’s $129 asking price is a bit high compared to the iPad mini. The model starts at $499.
That said, there’s nothing wrong with this feature: I’ve tested the Pencil Pro on the new mini, and it works as advertised. And it’s nice to have the option to use the company’s best Pencil with the smallest tablet.
Apple Intelligence
That piece of the puzzle isn’t quite there yet. It uses Apple’s artificial intelligence and aims to make everyday tasks easier. It helps write helpful email summaries and more
But it’s not here yet. The first version with basic features will be released before the end of October. But this version is for users whose devices have their language settings and Siri settings set to US English. Another English version, specifically British English, will follow in late 2024, with additional capabilities and languages coming in 2025. Anyone can set up an iPhone or iPad in US English, but it works best with a specific language setting beforehand.
While Apple Intelligence can be useful, there are UK customers who will have to wait patiently.
