Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus 5G mobile platform with up to Platform with up to 3.1GHz core clock speed goes official

Qualcomm has announced its latest and greatest Snapdragon 865 5G mobile platform. The octa-core CPU can go up to 3.1GHZ. It is based on 64-bit architecture and 7nm process technology. Additionally, the chipset includes the Adreno 650 GPU, which is said to offer 10% faster graphics playback. The Asus ROG Phone 3 and Lenovo Legion will be the first devices to be powered by the new SoC.

It is integrated with the Snapdragon X55 5G RF modem system that includes 5G mmWave and sub-6 GHz, autonomous (SA) and non-autonomous (NSA), FDD, TDD, and dynamic spectrum sharing modes. It offers downlink speeds of up to 7.5 Gbps and uplink speeds of 3Gbps.

On the AI front, it includes the Hexagon 698 which includes the Hexagon Tensor Accelerator, Hexagon Vector eXtensions, and Hexagon Scalar Accelerator. There’s also the Qualcomm Sensing Hub, which comes with a very low-power hub for audio, voice, and sensors and supports low-power artificial intelligence algorithms and multiple voice assistants. It also provides support for merging contextual data streams, including sensors, audio, and voice. Includes multi-small distance field detection and echo cancellation.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus 5G mobile platform comes with the Qualcomm Spectra 480 image signal processor. Its camera features are as follows:

The new SOC comes with support for new LP-DDR5 memory up to 2750 MHZ and LPDDR4X memory up to 16 GB up to 2133 MHz. Location services included are GPS, Glonass, BeiDou, Galileo, QZSS, NavIC and SBAS that support dual frequency. It comes with geofencing and low power tracking, sensor-assisted navigation.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus 5G mobile platform supports 4+ fast charging and AI fast charging. Supports biometric fingerprint, iris, voice, face authentication. It comes with Vulkan 1.1 API support. In addition, the chipset brings HDR games (10-bit color depth, Rec. 2020 color gamut). Includes hardware accelerated H.265 decoder and VP9. It supports HDR Playback Codec for HDR10 +, HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision. Bluetooth 5.2 is also supported.

Upon reaching the screen, Snapdragon 865 Plus 5G SoC supports 4K @ 60Hz and QHD + @ 144Hz. Maximum external display support is up to 4K @ 60Hz. It comes with 10-bit color depth and Rec. 2020 Color Gamut. Supports HDR10 and HDR10 +. In terms of sound, it comes with Hexagon Voice Assistant Accelerator for hardware processing of the accelerated voice signal.
