Look, I will be honest – when I first heard of the Elden Ring Nightreign network test times, which are scheduled to run between February 14-16, 2025, I figured it would be Elden Ring with co-op slapped on it.
After that I started to investigate what actually occurred during those five three-hour meetings and, yes, FromSoftware had to put the game together almost entirely anew.

What the Network Test Yielded According to Reality.
The test was conducted on five sessions taking three hours each. Lucky players were assigned lottery-generated beta codes, and jumped into what provoked outright different beast. The thing is, in this case Nightreign is not Elden Ring with friends. It is a roguelike, with 30-45 minutes per run, and with everything re-initilising once that time is over.
Session 1 was a mess, though. The servers have gone down since 3-6 AM PT on February 14. The case of FromSoftware required an apology that was to be made publicly and went as far as creating a separate test session. But honestly? The technical headaches were well-compensated by the stuff they showed in the game.
The Big Changes That Actually Matter

No Fall Damage, Ever
This one caught me off guard. You can literally toss yourself down cliffs now. They included wall climbing, quick jumps by use of spirit springs and gliding with spectral hawks. The map is called Limveld it is procedurally-generated Limgrave that regenerates on a daily basis in-game. So aggressive crossing is not only encouraged but it is compulsory.
The catch? The wall-jumping seemed a pain during the test. There are reports of players holding the button down up to 15+-seconds playing the game to see the practical walls climbing the circle in as little as seconds. When you are racing with time, not so great.
Equipment Freedom
This is where it gets wild they took the equip load away. It hurts you to remember that image-painful stat management when you would invest points on endurance to be able to wear nice armor? Gone. Wear whatever you want. Use any weapon. Your construction no longer limits your equipment.
This isn’t just convenience. It alters your attitude towards every run that lasts 30-45 minutes as you are not confined to a play style depending on how your activities were distributed.
Actual Co-op Integration
Earlier FromSoftware games had you burn burnable items in order to get assistance. Nightreign just… works. You go to the Roundtable Hearth, call an expedition and it automatically pairs you with two other people. Password systems allow you to collude with friends with the pain and troubleless game of Steam.
Three-person teams are not optional. There is a solo play but it is brutal. You are missing the generated runes together with the support in the case of boss fight.
Advancement That Depends (Of a Kind).
All the expeditions begin on level one. No carry-over between runs. However, it has a clever twist in it- Relic system provides permanent bonuses. Complete an expedition (lose or win) and you obtain relics that enhance subsequent executions. That way you are in the process of progress even when you are failing.
The circle of the Night Tide is compelling you to the boss battles, and they fixed the circle harm after the test since players were merely building regeneration and disregarding it.
The Implication of This on the May 30 Release.
The Elden Ring Nightreign network test timing provided us with our initial real glimpse of FromSoftware co-op roguelike. They are also listening transparently, server problems are fixed between the sessions, they are adjusting balance according to the feedback.
The game launches May 30, 2025. In case what you are expecting is classic Elden Ring, reset. It consists of 45-minute team-runs, completely resetted, procedural maps, and irreversible advancement in relics. It is different and that is precisely what is meant.
FAQs
Does network test progress carry to the full game?
Nope. A reset is performed on everything, such as levels, equipment and Android runes, quests. The only case that would have been an exception would have been relics earned in the test but even that is not transferred in this scenario.
Can I play solo or do I need teammates?
You may go a-lone, but the go is much tougher. The game was a three-player balanced game. Solo translates to few rune generation and lack of support during boss battles. FromSoftware may make changes to single-player after launch, but at this point, it is team-based.
How long does one full run actually take?
Approximately 30-45 minutes based on your teams level of efficiency and the route you choose. That entails three game days of discoveries and the final battle with Nightlord boss. Fast enough to take a lunch, in a nutshell.
