All Dig Totems and Their Effects: What I Learned After Weeks of Grinding

Eh, I am not going to be a liar, though, when I first began playing Dig, I knew nothing about totems at all, and why so many people were dropping them everywhere. Two weeks later I am likely to have tried all combinations of totes you can imagine.

Here I have all that I got to know about all Dig totems, and how they work, stripped down to the bone.

What Are Totems Anyway?

Totems are essentially buff zones that are dropped down. Anyone who is in their proximity receives temporary rewards, be it increased XP, increased luck, and glorious objects, etc. The catch? The majority of them are priced or have grinding quests. But trust me, they’re worth it.

The Free Ones You Must Always Snatch.

I began with the totems based on a quest since I am cheap. During Essence Totem, you will receive 50% XP during 30 minutes – it is free after completing 7 quests in Toms Bakery. Combine it with Arcane Totem (15 luck, unlocked after 9 Penguin Pizza deliveries) and you are already in the lead of the majority of players.

It has a free Monarch Totem to damage bosses and Vitality Totem to be more resilient as well, which is obtained by quests. I must be sincere that at the beginning Vitality was like garbage but when I was killing on the grind that extra stamina it gave me.

Where It Costs More (But It is Worth It).

After reaching the middle of the game, I earned 12,000 dollars on the Glistening Totem. It doubles the chances of getting shiny items hence items sell three times more. In some two sessions I had earned my money back. On the serious note, make it this purchase, in case you are only purchasing one paid totem.

Then there is Celestial Totem (20,000) it just appears when you experience Meteor Shower but it shares a 4 times sell value multiplier. I camped to take this at an event and it was, literally, a big pay off when I began farming out there in Dinosaur Island.

Modifier opportunities increase by 50% with Augmented Totem (15,000). Modifiers are random buffs that increase the value of item hence piling this with Celestial? Chef’s kiss.

The New Kid: Crude Totem

The July update removed the Crude Totem, and it has changed the boss farming meta entirely. You make it (not purchase it), and then it can be stacked with Monarch to deal insanity to bosses. I have been running Monarch + Crude + Arcane whenever I want to kill bosses and the loot is insane.

The Stacking Trick (How I Really Use Them).

It is here you can have a lot of fun–you can pile as many as 3 totems in a single position. All the buffs are at once passed on to everyone in the radius. My winning combination to earn money?

Celestial + Augmented + Chronos (Chronos multiplies item age by 25% to get improved base value). Plop them on Dinosaur Island and you can earn more than $200K a session. It will cost 47,000 in total to install, but the pay back is stupid.

For XP farming early on? Essence + Arcane + Glistening. You get experience quick and loot everything in the process.

What Nobody Tells You

There are also premium totems that do not kick in immediately and before the buff becomes effective, you must dig 10-15 items first. The clock goes off instantly though, and you can afford to drop a totem and go away. I squandered so much of the totems by so doing.

Also, Spore Totem is free but random as well, and it is spawned when you use Spore Spade shovel (10 percent probability). It takes as little as 1 minute 40 seconds, though you can have them in sequence if you are fortunate. I once combined Arcane + Spore on an occasion that a Double Luck was going on and was lucky to achieve 21+ luck. Discovered three mythical objects that evening.

My Honest Take

Unless you are a veteran, grind those free quest totems. There is no reason as to why you should squander Robux unless you are in a hurry. When you have saved up 12000 dollars take Glistening and farm shiny objects till you are able to buy the huge stuff.

Amateurs In pure money Celestial + Augmented stack is unbeatable by endgame players. The Crude Totem noteworthy ought by far to be made by boss farmers, it is a grind, but it is well worth it.

And here is the point– totems do better in parties. You share buffs with 3-4 people when you are farming and reach zones of activation sooner. Playing alone is all right but you are leaving money on the table.

Not much more I want anybody to tell me when I first started. Pile some totems, cultivate agriculture, and do not squander your first twelve thousand dollars on anything but Glistening. You’ll thank me later.
