How to Dual Wield in Elden ring Nightreign: My Hidden Find.

Well, I will tell you the truth – I got into dual wielding entirely on my heels. I had been charging about Nightreign with the Duchess, swapping a dagger with a sort of an odd sword, and asking myself why the whole world was so full of power stance. One night I came with two equal katanas with the purpose of testing what was going to happen.

Holy crap.

What Really Happened when I Tried It.

So here’s the deal. I opened my Equipment menu, and threw two Katanas in my left and right weapon slots- of the same kind which proves to be pivotal- and then when I pressed L1, it felt totally different. My weapons did not take turns as before but both the blades dealt a blow simultaneously.

The damage spike was instantaneous and I began smashing enemy positions far quicker than I had ever done with a shield.

This occurs due to the fact that matching types of weapons unlock what the game refers to as power stance as explained in the guide by Beebom. It is not merely having two weapons, it is the type, it must be identical. Two daggers? You’re good. Two curved swords? Perfect. One axe and one hammer? No, you will simply switch attacks as in a normal set up.

The catch? My stamina bar was decreasing at a quicker rate than I assumed. Dual wielding is stamina consuming as you are using two weapons at once. This forced me to relearn my timing, and I could not simply spam with L1 and cross fingers. I began alternating light attacks with those heavy dual hits with breathing space between the attacks.

The reasons why this changes everything (at least when it comes to status effects).

Here’s where it clicked for me. One of the katanas was replaced by a blade with a mix of poison whereas the other was used with the purposes of bleed accumulation. In seconds of action, I had caused poison and bloodshed during my struggle between a hard opponent and myself.

This is the same strategy listed by the PC Gamer Raider build guide, which piles the various status effects to make dual wielding ridiculously powerful in killing bosses.

And jump attacks were my prerogative. As I jump and squeeze the L1 halfway, the two weapons slam onto each other. According to GameWith, it is one of the most effective methods to disorient enemies position as fast as possible, particularly, in the co-op mode, when your team can take advantage of the situation.

The Arrangement Is Easier Than It sounds.

In case you wish to do the same, here is what worked on my case:

Get two weapons of similar kind, one in your left hand, one in your right; in your Equipment menu. The game will not inform you that it is working but once in the battle, you press the L1 button you will notice this at once. Instead of the two weapons alternating, your character will swing around them together.

Being light and quick, I first tried this with the daggers. The Duchess is an ideal match with two daggers since her Dexterity scale is such that these hits are painful. But this, I tell you, is-merely a Nightfarer; equip you weapons to your own peculiarities. Strength builds? Dual great axes. Dex builds? Katanas or curved swords.

Lesson that I had to travel a long way to learn: pay attention to your equipment load. The weight on two guns surpasses that of a sword-and-shield set, and beyond 70 per cent of your full weight you will fat-roll all over. No fun when you are avoiding the Nightlord attacks.

My Lesson after a Week of Testing.

Dual wielding is not a trick, but it has actually redefined my way of fighting in Nightreign. I am causing more damage with each combo, getting status effects to work quicker than ever, and breaking stances with such force. Well, I dumped my shield and it was unusual initially. However, after becoming used to dodging, rather than blocking, the trade-off would be justified.

Assuming you still are running on a basic sword-and-board system, then try dual wielding. Get two similar weapons, strike L1 the next time you have a fight and watch. You may accidentally find your favorite style of playing- as I did.

FAQs

Can I dual wield two different weapon types?

Nope. The two weapons in the exact category to unlock the power stance moveset are the two that you need. Place, for instance, a katana and a straight sword on them and you will only receive normal alternating blows and not an L1 attack at the same time. Stick to matching pairs.

Does dual wielding work better than two-handing a single weapon?

It depends on your build. The high Strength scaling boost of 1.5x with two-handing is an excellent factor with pure strength weapons. However, dual wielding allows you to pile up the status effects as well as the burst damage with both weapons simultaneously.

Dual wielding normally prevails in the case of bleed, poison or magic constructions.
