Honkai Star Rail Lygus: I Could not Find These Strategies in Weeks.

Last updated on November 22nd, 2025 at 03:26 pm

I mean, I am not going to mince words about it I was almost broken, Honkai Star Rail Lygus. Failed experiments, lost energy and seeing my characters be wiped in Disputation Mode, that is a 3 weeks streak of futility.

However, there was a twist to it because as soon as I realized what was going on, the encounter was… not as difficult. Not easy, but doable.

Therefore, in case you are stuck on this boss like I was, I want to tell you what occurred to me.

Honkai Star Rail Lygus

What Makes Lygus So Brutal?

The first time that I fought him, I did not have the slightest idea. He has got 12 million HP in Memory of Chaos (a read that, yes), and has two different modes which entirely shift the way you must play.

I continued to level the boss like a regular boss fight. Big mistake.

Lygus works on this system of Evolution and Disputation Mode. Whenever he changes modes he receives a 50% Vulnerability stack on himself – and your damage essentially doubles as you do. It took days before I realized this and continued to brute-force with baseless destruction.

This is what I had to discover by myself:

He begins with Evolution Mode. It is the cool down stage where he creates these irritating Titankin menaces. The key? Don’t rush it. Wait until it switches to natural mode at 100 Action Value, or, in case you run Castorice or Evernight, you can make it switch sooner than that at 42 AV summoning memosprites.

Dispute Mode This is where it gets ugly. The enemies of Black Tide appear continuously and Lygus rushes up this destructive Ultimate named Query: Outcome of Prime Mover. You have a possible 10 kills on enemies to make him stop as he requires to populate your team with the nuke.

The Strategy That lastly Opened to Me.

Having exhausted all the other efforts, I completely changed the strategy in my attempt. Rather than attempting to attempt to out-DPS him, I instead narrowed in on three things:

There is More to Speed Than the Rapid Matter.

I had my DPS running at approximately 115 speed due to the desire to damage as much as possible in CRIT. Wrong move. As soon as I collided everybody to 134+ speed, I received much more turns per run. More vulnerability: When exposed, the Ultimate energy accumulated the more damage.

Don’t Use Every Free Ultimate

There is one thing that no one informed me at first: Lygus to the effect of an Ultimate of your allies, randomly. Sounds great, right? Unless it costs fifty percent of the maximum hit points of that character.

I continued to accept each and every one and questioned myself why my team was continuing to die. It is only after finding that you can only use it on such characters as Phainon where the trade-off in damage helps. For everyone else? Skip it. When you shields occur 100 percent in the blockage of the HP cost, then you are on the golden side when you are using the Aventurine or Lingsha.

Team Comp is in fact important here.

I attempted to make my favorite characters to enter the fight. Didn’t work. What worked was the mechanism around building around the mode-swap mechanic.

It was this arrangement that enabled me to break through: Castorice, Evernight, Hyacine, and a flex support. Castorice can and Evernight can impose the early mode swaps, and it implies the increased sensitivity of the stacks during the combat. This was optimized to give me 15-cycle clears the next day, but the next day again, regular 6-cycle clears.

Without those characters, Phainon hypercarry teams are also effective. Freed Ultimates of the mechanics of Lygus allowed him to roll abilities close to infinitely. You can match him with Sunday or Bronya, and put a good sustain on him, and you are all right.

Quick Tips That Saved My Runs

  • Obvious Tide of black Fusses, is in Disputation Mode. When you allow them to accumulate the Ultimate of Lygus is irresistible.
  • Time your kills carefully. I was taught that you should not kill the last enemy just before he Ultimates – poor timing kills you.
  • Bring consistent healing. Everyone gets struck with distributed damage thus sustains such as Lingsha, Aventurine or Gallagher are necessities.

Where I Learned All This

Honestly? The experiment and experimentation and a lot of YouTube tutorials. The mechanics were described in a much simpler way as the entire breakdown of Guoba Certified compared to the tutorial in the game itself.

The budget team guide of NJMH Gaming had taught me that I didn’t need to have characters of E6 characters to win, it was only good strategies that allowed me to win.

To have some written guides, the strategy break down by Beebom provides clean tabular representation of all moves and counters. The threads in the Reddit community also assisted me in understanding optimization of the team.

Final Thoughts

It is by no means that Honkai Star Rail Lygus is invincible, he simply chastises you because you are not well aware of his mechanics. After I stopped playing around with him like a damage sponge, and began to start playing around with mode swaps and vulnerability stacks, the entire situation changed.

There is nothing to get in the first shot in this fight. Learn the trends, adjust your squad and be willing to redefine a few times. When you land that 3-star clear it is worth it.
