Look, I get it. You dragged Yunli, got her loaded out with what was apparently good stuff, and now she is just alright. None of the reverse strike Darknet character you watched in those YouTube videos.
This is exactly what happened to me three weeks ago when I was in a position that my Yunli was hardly making 80k per counter with others getting 200k+.
These are the various things I learned after testing various builds and asking players who do get it.
Table of Contents
You’re Probably Using Her Ultimate Wrong
This was my biggest mistake. I used to eat Ultimate by Yunli every time it was prepared because I believed that the more the counters the more the damage. Wrong.
Here is the point Yunli has two versions of her Ultimate counter. There is one called Intuit: Slash (the weak one) and Intuit: Cull (the beefy one which really hurts). You only get Cull as she is attacked by enemies when using Ultimate in the Parry window.
What I now remember doing: I watch enemy turn order. Well, as long as nobody attacks, then I wait. Nevertheless, it is still manual play, but such a bargain to make her dance. Auto-battle with Yunli? This is the reason why she is performing poorly.
The first domains, which I practiced, were lower-level domains first, just to get the timing. By the time you get to know the patterns of the enemy, it is natural.

Your Stats Are Off (Mine Were Too)
I believed that the move was to stack ATK to everywhere. Yunli, it turns out, lives and dies by CRIT.
Here’s what fixed my damage:
- It was CRIT Rate of about 90-100% (I had a 65% sitting before)
- CRIT DMG at least 120% (mine’s now at 180%)
- ATK% comes third, not first
Check your relic main stats. You desire CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG on your chest piece – and not ATK%. Boots must be ATK% and your Planar Sphere must have Physical DMG% in case you can obtain it.
In my attempts to refarm with this priority, my counter damage doubled literally. No joke.
You are not providing her with enough energy.
Yunli finds it difficult to hold up her Ultimate up regularly without her trademark of Light Cone (Dance at Sunset). I do not possess it, and so here is my method of getting about it.
Plausible ways to solve the energy crisis:
- Pair her with Tingyun. Her Ultimate provides Yunli 50-60 Energy at any given moment.
- Then use Huohuo when you have her, she creates increased Energy in the healing process.
- F2P as I am, Lynx is your friend. She raises aggro on Destruction characters, i.e. the more enemies strike Yunli, the more Energy she will get.
I have also used a different rope with an Energy Regeneration Rate% on the Pure Fiction content when the enemy does not attack so frequently. Stick with Atk% rope in Memory of Chaos.
The Relic Set You’re Sleeping On.
All guides indicate that Wind-Soaring Valorous is the best. It is. But when you have been cultivating that field a whole week with garbage litterfall, then be like that.
While farming, I changed my 2 piece Wind-soaring valorous + 2 piece Inert Salsotto combo to 2-piece wind-soaring Valorous + 2-piece inert Salsotto combo, c’mon? The difference in damages was arguably just 5%. Not even an additional month of grinding to place that finish 4-piece.
Inert Salsotto offers Planar Ornaments a 15 per cent damage increase to all that Yunli does. No piles to be made, no state of things. It just works.
Your Team Might Be the Problem
- This is my F2P team that made Yunli glowing, after all:
- Yunli (obviously)
- Tingyun (Energy + ATK buffs)
- Pela (DEF reduction causes the counters to impact more powerful)
- Lynx (aggro control + healing)
I was running her before at random assistance. As soon as I assembled a team where I created a team only to feed her Energy and get her more damage, everything fell into place.
But the better, then you have either Robin or Sparkle. They can make Yunli work even without them.
The Reality Check
Yunli needs to work harder than its DPS counterparts. She’s not plug-and-play. She is however one of the most rewarding characters to play once you have mastered the timing and maximize those CRIT stats.
I was unable to clear and struggled with the Memory of Chaos Stage 10, and she repeatedly cleared Stage 12 with a 3-star rating by herself. The difference? Fixing these five things.
Quit agriculture to get that 4-piece outfit. First, target to obtain the appropriate main stats with respectable CRIT sub stats. Master your enemy patterns to be playing Ultimate when you are supposed to. Assemble a team that will genuinely support her kit.
That’s it. That was what made my Yunli not only not bad but also good.
FAQs
Q: Does Yunli make it worth building without her trademark Light cone?
Yeah, she is. I am playing On the Fall of an Aeon (the free 4-star in Herta shop), and she manages to make it through all endgame. You will cause about 85-90 percent of optimum damage which is quite sufficient. And do not want the lack of Dance at Sunset hinder her building.
Q Which is the reason why my Yunli dies in more difficult material?
Two: one, you are not bringing her level (heals her when she counters), or two, there is not enough strength in your sustain character.
I was forced to spend more on the curing traces of Lynx. Additionally, load Yunli with some HP% substats, also, if you are still having difficulties with it, damage is vain when she is dead.
A: (Y/N) Should I target SPD substats?
No. Actually avoid SPD on Yunli. The reason behind her being damaged is counters rather than taking additional turns by enemies. Lower SPD is preferable since it will not allow her to ride around turns too swiftly and waste Parry windows. This sounds counterintuitive, but I would tell you to believe me in this.
