An easy way to keep ducks away from the pool is to leave inflatable toys or balloons with eyes that resemble their predator in the pool when you’re not using it. Unfortunately this solution is not foolproof. If the ducks realize that these pool ornaments won’t stick to them, they may return.

Use the automatic pool cleaner

Leaving an automatic cleaner in the pool can also entice ducks to stay away because it seems like a predator to them. Most ducks will be scared when they see them go under water. Similar to the game of pool, this is not always a foolproof plan.

Cover the pool with a solar cover or bird netting

Covering your pool with a solar shade or bird netting is one of the best ways to keep ducks out of the water. Bird traps make it difficult to land a duck in water. It is safe to use but should be a last resort as it is never desirable to add additional chemicals to the pool water.
