How To Keep Ducks Out Of Pool?

How To Keep Ducks Out Of Pool: Ducks are nice to see swimming in the pond but you don’t want to see them in your pool. They get headaches when they stop by a pool party. They force pool chemicals to work overtime to fight the germs they carry, and they also leave behind duck droppings. Since ducks are protected birds, you should not shoot them or use traps or poisons to get rid of them as you would rats or mice. There are many safe techniques you can use to keep ducks out of your pool.

Leave animal pool toys or scary-eyed balloons in your pool

Wild goats are afraid of predators such as crocodiles, snakes, sharks and dolphins. An easy way to keep ducks away from the pool is to leave inflatable toys or balloons with eyes that resemble their predator in the pool when you’re not using it. Unfortunately this solution is not foolproof. If the ducks realize that these pool ornaments won’t stick to them, they may return.

Use the automatic pool cleaner

Leaving an automatic cleaner in the pool can also entice ducks to stay away because it seems like a predator to them. Most ducks will be scared when they see them go under water. Similar to the game of pool, this is not always a foolproof plan.

Cover the pool with a solar cover or bird netting

Covering your pool with a solar shade or bird netting is one of the best ways to keep ducks out of the water. Bird traps make it difficult to land a duck in water. An added benefit is that it will catch leaves or twigs that have fallen into the vase. Ducks can easily land on the solar mantle but once they realize it’s not water, they quickly take off. A solar cover is a great investment for more than duck opposition as it traps the sun’s heat in the pool naturally heating the water for you

Dogs are also a natural predator of ducks. Many goats will also stay away if they notice a dog in your yard. If ducks attracted to your pool don’t easily scare your dog, you can train waterfowl that enter your dog to squawk to get them to move

Add Duck Off to your pool water

As a last option, you can add Duck Off to the water. Duck Off is a lo-chlorine based chemical that breaks down the surface tension of water. Prevents ducks from floating in the water. It is safe to use but should be a last resort as it is never desirable to add additional chemicals to the pool water.

Install physical barriers for the pool

Waterfowl are like water and land. Have you noticed that ducks move freely between the water and grassy areas, to feed and rest? Install physical barriers such as fences and hedges to make them less inviting.

Don’t drop food

Ducks and geese are scavengers, so if you leave food lying around, you’re asking for trouble. No edible fruit trees around the pool and bird feeders are definitely not allowed.

If you have ducks in your pool, scare them away. Eventually, they will receive a message not to return.
