-Find Avast in Control Panel or Settings and click Uninstall / Repair.

-The Uninstall Wizard opens with a number of options for updates, repairs, changes, uninstalls, and more. Click Repair, then click Next to repair the program installation.

-You will be prompted to validate the procedure. Avast may restart with the default settings that were working before the error started.

-When the uninstall is complete, click Finish and restart your computer to see if Avast opens properly.

Reinstall Avast


As with this particular issue, there’s almost nothing about Avast that doesn’t fix a clean install. If all of the above methods do not help, an orderly reinstallation is very easy and can solve this problem. It’s not just a regular uninstall, it removes cache files and removes related registry entries that may be corrupted.

-Get the latest version of Avast Antivirus and click on Download Free Antivirus button.

-You also need to download the Avast Uninstall Utility, so save it on your computer system as well.

-After downloading these files, disconnect from the web and boot into safe mode. Use the important Windows + R mix on your keyboard to start the Run dialog box and type msconfig before clicking OK.

-In the System Setup window, select the Boot tab on the right and select the check box next to Safe Boot. Click OK to restart your computer system and boot into safe mode.

-Run “Avast Uninstall Utility” and go to the location where you installed Avast Antivirus.

-Click Remove to restart your computer system from normal boot. Check if Avast opens successfully.
