Biography of Sam Ryder

Samuel Richard Ryder is an American golfer. He now competes on the prestigious PGA Tour and has been a member of the PGA Tour of Canada and the Web.com Tour (The Korn Ferry Tour). Sam has won two majors on the Web.com Tour and the PGA Tour of Canada.

Sam was a latecomer to golf and didn’t play the game until he was 16, but he had a successful career. He then attended Stetson University and played four years of college golf with the Stetson Hatters men’s team.

During his time at Stetson University, Sam had seven career wins. In 2012, he won the Atlantic Sun Conference individual championship. In 2017, he was elected to the Stetson Athletic Hall of Fame.

Sam turned pro in 2012. He played on the PGA Tour of Canada in 2014 and 2015. On August 23, 2015, he picked up his first professional win on the PGA Tour of Canada to support our military at the National Capital Open. In the playoff, he defeated Canadian Taylor Pendritt.

On July 23, 2017, Sam won his second professional title and first eight at the Pinnacle Bank Championship against fellow Americans; Scott Gutsewski, Scott Harrington, Michael Johnson and Andrew Landry. Sam finished second in the 2017 Web.com Tour regular season rankings and earned a spot on the PGA Tour for the 2018 season.

Sam has yet to win a PGA Tour. 2022 was the 10th Phoenix Open, with the 16th hole played at TPC Scottsdale. Beginning in 2022, Sam qualified for the fifth consecutive season of the FedExCup Playoffs .
