About Walkie talkie:
As the name suggests, Walkie talkie is an anonymous feature that allows Apple Watch users to communicate via voice.
Note that you do not need to be on the Walkie-Talkie app to receive someone’s message. Apple Watch will immediately start playing. So, if you find yourself in a situation that requires complete silence, change the speaker access by clearing the default setting or using the Control Center shortcut or by launching the app. You can also control the volume by turning the digital crown in the app.
In particular, FaceTime does not have walkie-talkies in restricted or blocked areas. This is because this feature relies on FaceTime Audio servers to send and receive audio messages.
Follow this step-by-step guide and you’ll start using your Apple Watch right away.
What do you need?

Walkie-Talkie is available on Watch Series 1 and with watchOS 5.3 or future versions. Don’t see the yellow TALK icon in the list? You may not have set up FaceTime on your iPhone. Make sure you do this first.

How do I reset the radio settings?
A walkie-talkie can be handy, but you don’t want to receive unexpected messages from your friends at work. This can lead to some unpleasant situations. You can also easily turn off the radio.
- On Apple Watch try to open the Walkie Talkie app.
- Click on an existing map to turn it on or off. If someone sends you a message when you’re away, they’ll alert you and ask you to talk.
How do you care for your friend?
Some people love the walkie-talkie app and want to send messages throughout the day. If you’re fed up with a friend, you can temporarily remove them from your list.
- Open the Walkie-Talkie app and find the friend you want to delete.
- Swipe left and tap the delete button.
If your friend doesn’t bother you, you can easily reset them.
As you can see, using the Walkie-Talkie app on WatchOS is very easy. Unfortunately, it’s only available for Apple Watch users. So if your partner only has an iPhone, this feature won’t work.
If you’re wondering if someone is using talkie-talkie instead of the usual iMessage voice reminders, this feature works in real-time and doesn’t require the recipient to press any buttons to listen. Ideal for couples and close friends who want to share information instantly with their loved ones or in emergencies. The perfect balance between voicemail and calls.
