Well, to tell the truth, I initially assumed that Honkai Nexus Anima, released suddenly by HoYoverse, was yet another gacha game. But then I watched the adorable animals (they call them Anima), read about how the auto-chess plays, and now I’m checking my email every hour to see when I can get an invitation to the beta.
The point is, I haven’t been able to participate in the original closed beta. Yeah, it stings a bit. Nevertheless, I got to know a lot about how to apply to the Honkai Nexus Anima, the things that are considered when applying, and what happens when you apply to such tasks.

The Application Window (And Why Timing Matters)
Their initial test was the so-called Nexus Bond Test, which was open for registration between August 29 and September 12, 2025. That’s a tight two-week window. On the 10th day, I found out, and it likely damaged my prospects.
This is what ensued when I applied: I went to the official HNA site, pressed that huge button marked “Join The Test,” and used my HoYoverse account to log in. It is the same one that I use with Genshin Impact.
Then came the questionnaire. They asked about my device specifications, the kinds of games I play, and, the clincher, how much money I spend on games. I was brutally honest. Maybe too honest? I am more of a here-and-there player than a whale.
What Does Really Go into the Application?
The process itself? Pretty straightforward. It is just filling out a form; the questions asked are:
Which device to play on (only PC and iOS on this initial test – Android will follow subsequently)
Gaming experience (play other HoYoverse games, auto-chess games, creature collector games, etc.)
Your average spending on games.
I spent maybe 10 minutes on it. None of the essay questions; no complicated struggles. Nothing but sincere responses to your arrangement and patterns.
However, what I would have liked to know briefly before I pressed submit is that HoYoverse stated that accounts that had greater historical activity may have greater odds. Translation? Assuming you were playing Genshin or Star Rail, linking that account would help. It is not a guarantee, yet it makes sense, as the testers will also be real people ready to log in and give feedback.
Email-Checking Hell (A Waiting Game).
Once you submit, you wait. They reach out to invited testers. I kept checking my inbox for three days. Spam folder too. Nothing.
Others on Reddit claimed they received their invitation within 48 hours. Others waited till the final day before the test. The selection process involves randomization; hence, it is partly chance.
The Requirements in Devices that Count.
Many were caught out here. Although the game was available during the beta, it supported only the PC (Windows 10+) and specific iOS devices. Unfortunately, an iPhone 13 mini or a regular iPhone 13 won’t work, as they only support iPhone 12 Pro, 13 Pro, and newer iPhone Pro models.
For PC, they recommend an RTX 2060 or higher. I have a slightly older one, which made me anxious. However, the community response is that if you can comfortably play Genshin Impact, you’ll likely be fine. The game itself was not even optimized for beta.
Storage requirement: 15 GB of reserved space. Not huge, but you should clear space before it installs.
What I would have done differently next time.
Should there be a second test opened (and, I tell ye, I am betting that there will be before the entire release), I would do so:
Apply on day one. This may not be guaranteed, but at least it’s worth a try.
Be aware it won’t be harmedilable on my HoYoverse account. I have developed a more frequent routine of logging into Genshin in case this kind of activity tracking becomes a reality.
Have my device specs ready. Before starting the questionnaire, confirm your specific GPU model, RAM, and iOS version.
The current application may no longer be open, but it was still necessary to know how to apply to Honkai Nexus Anima and have a chance one day. Also, knowing what HoYoverse looks for when it brings testers forward will give you a major competitive advantage next time.
