Pro tip: it is just easier to make predictions during knockout matches because there is no draw. Group stage games? Way riskier.
Step 3: Fill in Both SBCs (Were You Rich Enough to Do That?)
This is the step that took a new turn for me. When you win both players during a game, you will get at least one upgrade. It is more expensive at first, but the risk is lower.
Step 4: Track the Match
After the SBC expires, the match occurs over several days. The automatic tracker updates every time we have results; upgrades will just be charged to your account.
The Timing Game That No one Speaks about.
That is where it becomes interesting. There are waves in the prices of showdown cards:
- Immediately after discharge: Prices are baseline. This is the cheapest time for fodder (cards you need to play SBCs).
- Day before the match: Prices shoot up as people speculate on the victors.
- Once upgrades expire: Prices level off or decline since everyone is selling at the same time.
I fill in SBCs in the first 24 hours, when fodder isn’t expensive. If I decide to change my mind about my prediction, I can still use the card, or at least forward it to another SBC later, because they aren’t tradable.
